Exploring Bellevue’s Dynamic Arts & Culture Landscape

Public Art That Defines Our Streets

Downtown Bellevue is becoming an open-air gallery. More than 120 works of public art—sculptures, murals, and installations—pepper the cityscape, indoors and outdoors. The Bellevue Arts Commission maps them all through its free “ArtMap,” available at City Hall and the Meydenbauer Center. A self-guided walk reveals unexpected gems in everyday spaces.

Festivals & Events that Bring Us Together

One of the grandest is Bellevue Arts Fair Weekend, transforming Downtown into a multi-stage arts festival. Hundreds of juried artists display work in mediums like glass, wood, jewelry, and textile; there’s live music, performance, food, and family-friendly art activations along NE 6th Street and Bellevue Square.

Other annual highlights include the Bellevue Strawberry Festival, a celebration of the area’s agricultural roots; the Northwest Ukrainian International Festival, which offers food, music, and culture under vibrant skies; and the Bellwether Art Festival, a multidisciplinary event spotlighting Bellevue’s arts future.

Hubs of Learning & Expression

Music Works Northwest plays a central role in musical education across Bellevue and the Eastside. Offering lessons, ensembles, camps, outreach, and instrument loans, it strives to make music accessible to learners of all ages and backgrounds.

The Northwest Arts Center provides classes in visual arts, dance, pottery, martial arts, and more. Community members can drop in for low-cost programs, or participate in larger, coordinated events.

Galleries, Cultural Identity & Support

Bellevue boasts a rich network of galleries and cultural spaces. From dedicated fine art studios and neighborhood galleries to museums in the downtown core, there are endless opportunities to engage with contemporary art, craft, and design.

The City of Bellevue has adopted its “Cultural Compass,” a strategic vision aiming to build on existing strength in arts education and creative economy. It highlights the role of schools, music programs, and cultural partners—such as Bellevue Arts Museum and local nonprofits—in enriching community life.

Ways to Keep Participating

  • Join a performance or ensemble, or sign up for music or art classes at community centers.
  • Attend public events—festivals, fairs, exhibitions—that often offer free or low-cost entry.
  • Support local artists by visiting gallery openings or purchasing work directly at fairs.
  • Take a self-guided art walk using Bellevue’s ArtMap to explore at your own pace.

Bellevue’s arts scene is thriving because it touches every corner of the city—from parks and streets to classrooms and community centers. It welcomes residents and visitors alike to experience creativity in motion. Whether you’re listening, creating, observing, or sharing, there’s space here for your voice.
