Exploring Bellevue’s Vibrant Arts and Culture Scene

Bellevue, Washington, offers a dynamic arts and culture scene that reflects the city’s diverse community and creative spirit. From public art installations to annual festivals and thriving arts districts, there’s something for everyone to explore.

Public Art and Museums

Art enthusiasts can embark on a self-guided city walking tour to discover nearly 130 public art pieces scattered throughout downtown Bellevue. These installations, ranging from sculptures to murals, showcase the city’s commitment to making art accessible to all. The Bellevue Arts Museum (BAM), known as “BAM,” is a leading destination in the Pacific Northwest to experience art, craft, and design. BAM engages people of all ages through extraordinary exhibitions, programs, and publications featuring Northwest artists as well as national and international artists. Docent-led tours are offered at 1 p.m. daily, and admission is free on the first Friday of every month.

Annual Festivals

Each year, Bellevue hosts the Bellevue Arts Fair Weekend, a premier event celebrating the arts and showcasing the creative talents of artists from around the country. More than 350 artists exhibit and sell handcrafted works across various mediums, accompanied by live performances, food trucks, and hands-on programming. The event typically takes place in late July, transforming downtown Bellevue into a bustling hub of artistic expression.

In June, the city celebrates its strawberry farming heritage with the annual Strawberry Festival at Crossroads Park. This family-friendly event features live music, historical exhibits, and, of course, plenty of strawberry-themed treats.

BelRed Arts District

The BelRed Arts District is home to over 60 creative organizations and businesses, making it the highest concentration of arts and cultural entities in Bellevue. This vibrant area offers opportunities to engage with local artists, attend performances, and participate in workshops. Public art installations throughout the district further enhance its cultural appeal.

Performing Arts

Bellevue’s performing arts scene is equally vibrant. The Meydenbauer Center Theatre hosts a variety of performances, from ballet to contemporary theater. Additionally, the Bellevue Youth Symphony Orchestra provides young musicians with opportunities to develop their talents and perform for the community.

Whether you’re a longtime resident or a visitor, Bellevue’s arts and culture offerings provide enriching experiences that celebrate creativity and community.
