Bellevue, Washington, offers a dynamic arts and culture scene that reflects the city’s diverse community and creative spirit. From public art installations to annual festivals and dedicated arts districts, there’s something for everyone to explore.
Public Art Installations
Since 1992, Bellevue has embraced public art, transforming the city into an open-air gallery. With nearly 130 works of public art, visitors can embark on self-guided tours to discover sculptures, murals, and interactive pieces scattered throughout downtown. Notable installations can be found in Downtown Park, Meydenbauer Center, and the Bellevue Regional Library.
Annual Festivals
Each year, Bellevue hosts several festivals that celebrate art and culture:
Bellevue Arts Fair Weekend
Held annually during the last weekend in July, the Bellevue Arts Fair Weekend is a premier event showcasing the creative talents of artists from around the country. The fair features over 350 artists exhibiting handcrafted works across more than 15 mediums, accompanied by live performances, food trucks, and hands-on programming. The event spans multiple locations, including Bellevue Square and the NE 6th Street corridor.
Strawberry Festival
Celebrating Bellevue’s strawberry farming history, the annual Strawberry Festival takes place on the fourth weekend in June at Crossroads Park. The festival features live music, historical exhibits, and, of course, plenty of strawberry-themed treats.
Northwest Ukrainian International Festival
Since 2017, Bellevue has hosted the Northwest Ukrainian International Festival, one of the largest Ukrainian cultural festivals in the United States. The event showcases Ukrainian music, dance, cuisine, and crafts, offering attendees a rich cultural experience.
BelRed Arts District
The BelRed Arts District is a hidden gem within Bellevue, boasting the highest concentration of arts and cultural businesses, organizations, and artists on the eastern side of Lake Washington. This district is home to musicians, visual artists, and performers who utilize the area’s post-industrial warehouses and retro strip malls as creative spaces. Visitors can explore over 60 creative organizations and businesses, making it a hub for artistic expression and cultural experiences.
Whether you’re a longtime resident or a visitor, Bellevue’s arts and culture scene offers a wealth of experiences that reflect the city’s commitment to creativity and community engagement.
